Post Alpha 12:
(Aragorn n.d.r.: cioè i cambiamenti a spawn e medici)

You can listen to the whole thing here but I'll note down the main points (I know someone sums this up on the forums usually but here's my summary of it):

Suppression:

There is no friendly suppression. So if you were trying to test suppression with your own teammates it wouldn't work. This is intentional. They did playtests and found that you'd get suppressed by friendlies too much even at short or long range just by having bullets coming from behind you over your head. HOWEVER, there was a BUG during the playtest that didn't allow suppression between 25-50 meters. That is a bug and they know about it.

One soldier with basic small arms wont have much suppression impact (think 30 round mags of AK/M4) but if many soldiers are doing it it will definitely boost that suppression.

LMG and GPMGS are the base tools for suppression outside of large amounts of small arms, and the amount of visual and aimsway effect ramps up as you go to 50 cal or bigger.

Every bullet that comes within 10 meters of a soldier influences suppression. You will be suppressed by enemy bullets hitting surfaces near you even if you're 'technically' safe from the bullet penetration. This makes sense so you can't just put down sandbags and only be suppressed by bullets flying by overhead, the ones that hit the sandbags/HESCOs still affect your aimsway/tunnelvision. The suppression is NOT higher if a bullet hits at 1 meter compared to 10 meters right now.

Explosions apply camera shake right now, but "ballistics" from vehicles apply suppression. So mortars/GLs/frags don't participate in the suppression mechanics like regular 'bullets' do. They do shake your camera as before though. They're investigating the influence of the explosions causing camera shake vs adding them to cause suppression.

V12 playtest was a short stress test so they didn't quite get any metrics on the suppression. Most people were trying to try new weapons/tanks and there weren't enough regular-style playthroughs of matches to get accurate reports on suppression. This was expected for the first playtest.

Suppression is disabled under 25 meters so CQB fights in buildings don't get super janky. You can only be suppressed by projectiles originating further than 25 meters out. This means that even if you have someone in CQB clearing a building, you can fire at the same building from further away with a suppressive element to assist them if enemies are near windows or something like that.

Persistent ammo:

You spawn with the same ammo that you died with anywhere outside of main. Bandages are refreshed (2 for all, 3/8 for medics) on respawn and you're given a three mags of primary weapon ammo and one pistol mag (2 mags for LMGs) if you had less than that when you died. The reason for this is to emphasize logistics and supply routes, especially the further you get from main, make it easier to take over HABs that haven't been consistently supplied, and discourage suicides/teamkills just to respawn with full ammo. Spawning at a rally OR HAB doesn't give you a full stock of ammo, you have to use vehicles or ammo boxes to rearm. Riflemen with ammo bags have empty ammo bags unless they fill them up first. HABs which run out of ammo are going to be a lot harder to defend on top of the HAB overrun mechanic.

When you spawn on a HAB with available ammo points, you still wont get full ammo automatically. They are looking to change this for the future but will not be in V12. The plan/idea is to have it automatically deduct ammo for each spawn on a HAB if possible. This removes some busy work of having to find ammo, but it doesn't let you manage who gets priority of that ammo.

Granularity for ammo means that each piece of ammo has a cost associated to it, instead of the soldier class taking a specific amount each time. Granularity at the current state does NOT mean you get to pick which ammo/how much you want, it will attempt to fill up everything you're missing. This means that if a truck has 20 ammo left in it, and you're an AT soldier, you might not be able to rearm anything because its going to attempt to fill up everything you're missing. They are working on updating this, but it wont be out on launch of V12.0.

Inventory sidebar will show you how many ammo points you need to rearm currently.

Spawn changes:

In V12 rally will have a 60 second wave timer. During the v12 test, HABs had a 30s wave timer but that was just a solution for the playtest as they dealt with the root cause. In V12, spawning timers and mechanics will be unchanged for HABs.

2 enemies within 30 meters of a HAB disable spawns at that HAB. Putting your HAB inside a building to protect your spawning soldiers also means enemies can sneak up much easier to its perimeter and disable the spawn. Soldiers in vehicles don't count. My opinion on this is that this simple change will completely remove the incentive to put a HAB inside of dense building areas. You will need to have an easy to see/defend area around the HAB such that enemies can't even get close.

Rallies have infinite spawns with waves spawning every 60 seconds. So basically you spawn with your team. The mechanics of destroying rallies will also change. Instead of 1 soldier within 10 meters to destroy a rally, you need 1 soldier within 30 meters to destroy a rally. So rallies having infinite waves is balanced by the fact that you'll eventually need ammo as well as it'll be easier to destroy the rally.

The playtest had no ticket penalty to teams that lost radios. The V12 plan is 10 tickets penalty instead of 20 tickets penalty for losing a FOB radio. They want to encourage more FOB building, but remember that you'll need to maintain logistics runs to keep them supplied.

Radios now can be placed within 300m of each other instead of 400m as in the past. Build radius for buildings is within 150m of radio.

They're aware that maps like Sumari will be absolutely crippled by the 30 meter HAB overrun mechanic. They're shifting focus to the bigger maps as squad gets tanks and helicopters so there will be some balance discrepancies on Sumari, especially with 100-player server. Final product of squad's more centered around controlling territory (RAAS and in the future Territory Control mode) over larger maps using mechanized infantry, so they're focusing the balancing for the larger maps.

V12 launch will keep rally wave timer hidden unless you're dead. They're considering letting you see it if you're alive in the future.

Rallies will need to be placed with more forethought. You'll need to place it at a bit more distance and hide them. With wave spawns you'll all spawn at the same time so if someone's camping it, you can get 9-man hosed within seconds if your rally's been discovered.

HABs can be destroyed by heavy weapons, same as radios. You can flatten a HAB with two HE shells from a tank. Bradleys, Warriors, 30mm BTR can also quickly destroy HABs if they have the line of sight on them.

Vehicle components and repairs:

Two components for V12. Every vehicle has an "engine" and some vehicles have an "ammo storage." Hitting ammo storage directly does one of two things: 1.) It depletes the ammo entirely for that vehicle if that vehicle has IRL protections against ammo cookoff (Russian BTRs have this). 2.) A direct hit to ammo storage will cook off the ammo and blow the vehicle up for vehicles who have no protection for cookoff (basically all other vehicles). If the ammo compartment is blown up, you will see/hear cookoff animation and that will RAPIDLY drop the vehicle HP. You will have a chance to jump out before it fully blows.

Hitting the engine will slow a vehicle down to a crawl. Crewmen have repair tools to do basic fixups to help speed the vehicle speed up so it can repair. Fixing the vehicle with repair kit does not let it move at 100% speed, its still slow, just not as bad as destroyed engine. Engine component and ammo is in the same location that it is in IRL for all vehicles.

You can't destroy tracks and turrets, but that's the next "component" additions for vehicles they're working on. "High priority" they said.

There is no RNG for component damage. Once the HP of the component drops to 0, it does its "destroyed" effect visually/mechanically. Armor slope/thickness and distance that it was hit from are taken into count when considering damage done to components and vehicles.

HEAT does slightly more dmg than SABOT to light vehicles and infantry. Use HEAT when you want to conserve SABOT ammo.

Mines in the future will impact components like tracks/wheels and may not destroy vehicles outright. This will not be ready for V12.0

:ghigno:

Hotfix:

We just pushed live a hotfix for Alpha 12. The biggest changes are:

- Added a feature that allows for automatic deleting / resetting of all player's configuration settings. This will be used only on major releases in the future. This hotfix will trigger the reset, and all Squad players will have their settings reset. People who have custom settings such as a custom resolution, keybinds, etc, will have to reconfigure those settings.
- Fix to ensure the "fully load textures" setting is off by default.
- Improvement to texture streaming.
- A few minor fixes to gameplay layers.

NOTE: Your user settings will be force reset by this update
